truth and beauty
is a sphere of activity
in which we are permitted
to remain children
all our lives.

Dawn Stilwell
Student Intern
Dawn was born and raised in Ohio. At age 14, she moved to Texas with her very "unconventional" family. It was two years later that she met her best friend and her future husband whom she is still married to today. Dawn and her husband live in Benbrook and have one beautiful, extremely talented 17-year-old daughter who is the love of their lives.
Growing up playing the piano and always surrounded by music, Dawn has passed this love of music on to her daughter (who is a fantastic singer/musician). Music connects her family. Most of her memories are accompanied by songs that were being played at the time. Growing up in a very different type of a family has given Dawn much insight into the uniqueness and the wonderful aspects of families; and has helped her develop her passion for working with them–no matter how unconventional.
Dawn is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and also an Elementary Teaching Certificate. After teaching first grade for six years, Dawn became a Behavior Specialist for children in Pre-K to 3rd grade. While working with these precious children, Dawn decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a therapist. She is now finishing up her Masters Degree in Professional Counseling at Texas Wesleyan University.
Dawn's passion is working with children and adolescents and their families. It is her goal to help others celebrate their unique qualities and find strength and happiness within themselves.
