Chris Jones, LPC
Adolescent Specialist
"It's a topsy-turvy world, and maybe the problems of two people don't amount to a hill of beans. But this is our hill. And these are our beans!" –Frank, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, 1988.
Chris grew up in a small town south of the metroplex. Years later he has managed to remain close to his small town roots and relaxed living which now includes a wife and two children.
Chris is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified ROPES / Challenge Course Facilitator. Chris received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from Baylor University. After graduating, Chris worked a few years in a local psychiatric hospital. In 1997, Chris co-founded Adventures In Achievement, Inc. Chris directed company growth as its ROPES Course and experiential workshops became a major provider to student leadership programs and at-risk youth in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. During the year of 2006, his efforts merged with Excelleration, LLC to become a southwest states leader of team development for organizations.
On the days we keep Chris in the office, his primary focus is on families. This includes teenagers with adjustment disorder, anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, substance abuse and ADHD. He works well with the parents of children struggling to transition into more mature and self-responsible roles, couples examining their relationship dynamics, families confronting difficulty or change, teens and adults adjusting to the structure of probation or parole, and those with more severe mental illness such as major depression, and bipolar disorder.
Chris also has a knack for designing and facilitating customized personal growth groups. His natural skill at facilitating group discussions enables people to talk honestly, take ownership, and identify more useful actions. Chris can direct individuals and families, towards improved decision-making, leadership, anger management, and goal attainment.
And if you can't find Chris in the office or on the ROPES course he is likely off running a marathon, cycling or keeping a seat warm at Texas Motor Speedway.
